Circa1820 Doulton Lambeth Ware Pouring Bottle - perfect condition in BROOKSIDE CENTRE, Queensland for sale
The condition should read OLD. There is not a scratch or chip of any kind.
This magnificent piece of history was born in Lambeth in London. John Doulton was one of the three original partners of a pottery at Vauxhall Lambeth. Jones,
Watts and Doulton produced salt glazed stoneware bottles and jars, artistic endeavours at this time being confined to relief figured hunting jugs and mugs.
The marking on this particular bottle indicates that Doulton himself created it. The 80 refers to (still researching this). It is 20cm in height and the base diameter is 9cm.
There is quite a history behind all this, and today we see it in the name Royal Doulton. The Doulton factory in Lambeth closed in 1959.
